Many influential people are using a variable definition of success. When asked what they consider success to be, they define success by their own standard. This is not the way Jesus defined success.
What was Jesus’ definition of success?
Jesus desired to please His Father in heaven. The Son of God had perfect success by looking to please His Father. Listed below are a few Bible verses that evidence His focus:
“Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” John 8:28-29
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” John 4:34
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30
“But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.” John 14:31
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:4
“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Matthew 17:5
True success is the recognition of God’s ownership. God is the Creator. We are His stewards and we have been placed in this world to do a work that he has appointed.
Let’s follow the example of Jesus. The Son of God did always those things that pleased His Father:
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10
If we believe on Jesus Christ and obey the words of Christ, then we will follow the instruction found in Matthew 6:9-10 and pray to our Father in heaven that His will be done in earth. This Christ’s purpose:
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30
The next time someone asks you what your definition of success is, you can tell them that it’s doing the will of your Father which is in heaven. You are a Jet of Light. You are believing on Jesus Christ and obeying the words of Christ. This is a fixed definition of success. This definition of success doesn’t change and is applicable to all. And please take special note:
You were designed for success!
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
